Data Principles & Inclusion Policy
The DDS Hub is guided by FAIR principles which emphasize the Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reuse of data resources and digital assets that facilitate dental, oral, and craniofacial research.
The DDS Hub works towards these principles in the following ways:
- Findability is accomplished by creating and curating data resources that are machine-readable, indexed, and searchable.
- Increasing the Accessibility of data resources includes identifying data silos and working through technological and other barriers to the broad use and reuse of available data resources.
- We work with other stakeholders to ensure the Interoperability of dental data by expanding available vocabulary and terminologies for wide adoption.
- Reuse of data resources is achieved with robust data management and sharing plans that emphasize the need for well described rich data and resources that adhere to community standards.
These principles necessitate that datasets need to be broadly accessible, with clear criteria for access and freely accessible metadata and data dictionaries to be included in the DDS Hub. Additionally, we require that human datasets must be collected and shared consistent with the informed consent of participants and in accordance with privacy laws.
Disclaimer: We strive to accurately represent the datasets included in the DDS Hub. However, data sources are responsible for the quality and accuracy of the individual datasets. The inclusion of a dataset in the DDS Hub does not represent its endorsement.
NIDCR and DDS Hub does not review, evaluate, or judge the quality and accuracy of the data provided by data sources.
